The Exploration & Production business began in Asia Pacific over a century ago, back in the 1890s, when the first wells were drilled by Shell in Sumatra and Borneo. Recent discoveries in Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam provide an aggressive expansion to our portfolio in the region.

Location: Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia

Regional Geologist / Portfolio Analyst

Responsibilities:

- As member of the Regional Exploration Team SEA (South East Asia), you will perform regional geological/geophysical evaluations and business opportunity evaluations in order to identify acreage acquisition opportunities
- Coordinate the annual SEA regional exploration business plan submission and coordinate and assist with quality control of the regional prospect portfolio and definition of the aspired portfolio incorporating strategic objectives and value
- Provide single point responsibility to the Area Exploration Manager SEA for hydrocarbon resource reporting. This includes portfolio reporting across countries in SEA with emphasis on collating and visualizing the portfolio comprising blocks, licenses, wells, fields, defined prospect inventory and Yet-to-Find potential
- Participate in Opportunity Framing, Volume & Risk panels and peer reviews to support the quality and consistency of the technical exploration work.
- Full adherence to HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) procedures and standards and actively contribute to the achievement of Goal Zero – no harm to people or the environment and no significant incidents

Requirements:

- Minimum BSc in Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of industrial experience with previous assignments in Exploration and/or Upstream portfolio management
- Able to recognise new exploration opportunities and effectively plan and carry out the required evaluation utilizing multiple data sources
- Technical and commercial skills, broad understanding of exploration and external processes and sound understanding of the economic evaluation of exploration opportunities incorporating subsurface and surface risks and uncertainties
- Understanding the linkage of exploration business/economics to the rest of the Upstream business, preferably gained through hands-on experience in managing (parts of) the Upstream value chain
- A valid visa or authorisation to work in Malaysia is required for this position
- A competitive remuneration package based on the prevailing conditions, policies and legislation in Malaysia will be offered for this position

Process Engineer

Responsibilities:

- Executing studies: Production Process engineers are involved in numerous single discipline studies, e.g. review of technology application and multi-discipline studies, forecasting the integrated production system capacity against future production
- Maturing Plant Change Requests: To improve plant efficiency and operation, physical changes are carried out on the plant. The Process Engineer will be required to mature the proposals for change from initiation through to endorsement and hand-over to the design/implementation team
- Analysing/improving facilities performance: A key element of the role is to understand how the plant is operating, to monitor key performance variables and to identify trends in performance, operational improvements and de-bottlenecking or downsizing opportunities
- Answering process queries: The scale of the Malaysian process operation and the complexity of the production system mean that there is a need for experts to provide sound answers to routine production queries. This is a key role for the production process engineer
- Assisting in Technical review of major projects (HAZOP, etc)

Requirements:

- Degree in Chemical Engineering/Process Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Excellent understanding of IM/IT (Information Management/Information Technology)
- Proven ability to engage with various levels of Management teams and senior stakeholder representatives
- Business commercial acumen and strategic cost leadership capability
- Proven and comfortable with change management
- A valid visa or authorisation to work in Malaysia is required for this position
